Why Kratom varies from batch to batch
Kratom varies from batch to batch but one batch of maeng da is as likely to be different from another batch of maeng da. Many people ask why is that?
Most kratom exported from Southeast Asia is harvested in Borneo with a much smaller amount coming from Sumatra.
Most kratom is harvested from wild trees and processed through production facilities. Some are also harvested from farms. The dried and crushed leaves are brought to the production facilities from all over the region. The leaves are loaded into the grinders. Once ground, the batches are sorted by the color of the powder and assigned a color (red, green, white, etc.) and a strain name.
The different colors have nothing to do with vein color. They are created by different drying methods (sun, shade, indoors, outdoors, etc.) and in some cases, fermentation. Those process changes the color of the leaves but so far, there is no evidence that it changes the alkaloid content or ratios.
Once it's ground the kratom is sold. Most will claim to be a small farm selling kratom they harvested and processed but most are all selling the kratom from the large production facilities. Unless your vendor actually knows which farm it is coming from in this case some vendors do. At MitraSpec we are proud to know where the Kratom is coming from and how it is grown and processed.
There are some smaller operations that process kratom from harvest to grinding but they aren't the norm. There are also some plantations popping up in recent years but most have very young trees that haven't fully matured yet. Some individuals from the kratom industry in Borneo have indicated that they believe the young leaves from the plantations are responsible for some of the drop in potency in recent years. The leaves from the plantations are often brought to the processing facilities and processed with the wild leaves.
It is very important to know your vendor and where your kratom comes from. It really does make a big difference! All our Kratom is tested and grown in smaller farms we are so proud of that. We also are thankful for all our customers.
MitraSpec has been using the same farm for years and is proud to know the process from growth to harvest of the leaves. How it is grown, dried and processed matters. The soil nutrients and also the seasons when they harvest the leaves. I hope this helps you in knowing the process of growth to harvest.
